The Way of Athletic Performance

Here at Iwamizu Athletic Performance strength is not built in a single workout. It is forged through disciplined practice, purposeful movement, and relentless refinement.

The mind and journey behind the system.

“Strength isn’t built when things are easy. It is forged through disciplined practice, purposeful movement, and the relentless decision to keep showing up when everything around you tells you to quit.”

To understand Iwamizu Athletic Performance, you have to understand the journey behind it.

My path through athletics wasn’t a smooth, linear rise to the top. Across every sport, era, and chapter of my life, training was never just physical — it was my refuge through the hardest moments. I’ve faced deep personal loss, navigated grief and depression, and fought through the mental and physical toll that comes with grinding at the highest levels.

The Athletic Evolution

Growing up, I was constantly moving — playing baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and tennis. By high school, I narrowed my focus to soccer and basketball. But when high school ended, the traditional path closed: I didn’t receive any offers to play collegiately.

Instead of letting that be the end of my athletic career, I pivoted. During college, I committed full-time to Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with a single goal: to become a professional grappler.

Through relentless mat time and structured conditioning, I earned double brown belts in both Judo and Jiu-Jitsu and stepped onto some of the biggest stages in combat sports — competing on FloGrappling, Submission Underground, Battle Grappling, and the ADCC Trials.

Competing at an elite level forced me to master every detail of human performance — from power development and biomechanics to deep mental resilience. When the time came to retire from competing, I realized my mission hadn’t ended — it had evolved.

Why I Built Iwamizu Athletic Performance

I didn’t start coaching to deliver generic workout templates or 30-day quick fixes. I built this platform because I know what it’s like to battle through adversity, build capacity from scratch, and reach the top tier without a handed-to-you roadmap.

You bring the intent. I’ll provide the roadmap.

Whether you are a beginner building a foundation, an intermediate athlete breaking plateaus, or a competitive athlete striving for peak performance — get the exact structure and accountability you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers before you apply.

Not at all — the name is about the standard we coach to, not who's allowed in. We work with three kinds of people: general population beginners who are just starting out (often nervous about training at home for the first time), intermediates who've plateaued and want to learn more exercises and train smarter, and athletes pushing to break into the next level of competition. Wherever you're starting from, the coaching adjusts to you.
